Kirk and the Nexus

In the movie Star Trek: Generations (common abbreviation ST:G), we see Kirk apparently die. He was first lost in an accident aboard the Enterprise B starship, and believed dead by everyone. In actual fact he had entered an energy ribbon called the Nexus where he found out that he could live out his past and all the illusions he could wish for. At the end of the movie he leaves the nexus with Picard and dies after defeating the bad guy Soran.
One interesting post talked about a possible continuity error with the TNG episode "Relics". The Spock DS9 story referred to was never done.

Subject: Spock/Nimoy

I heard an interview with Leonard Nimoy on NPR this afternoon. He was promoting his new autobiography "I Am Spock". The interesting part was in response to what Spock would be like at an older age. Nimoy discussed Spock being last seen in ST:TNG "Unification" on Romulus. He said he hopes that the current Star Trek producers would go back and "see how Spock is doing". This sounds like great potential for a 2 part DS9 episode. Maybe the Federation and Romulans will be more friendly with the Klingon situation. (The Defiant already has the Romulan cloaking device.)
While they're at it, bring Scotty back on. Isn't he cruising around in a shuttle craft?
Speaking of "Relics", how do other people see the continuity error of Scotty asking if Kirk brought the Enterprise out of mothballs to rescue him. Yet in "Generations", Scotty was there when Kirk "died". (Maybe he just forgot after being in the transporter beam for almost 80 years.)

A review of ST:G was posted also which quoted faults in the movie found by Peter David.

Video Review of `Generations' By Aoife Mahoney

Generations is Brilliant. Isn't it?

Peter David (at IRECON 5) pointed out a few faults, I never saw. Perhaps I was blinded by Trekkie Fervour? Whichever I'll list those faults, as well as I can recall.
1) Picard's reaction to Robert and Rene's deaths - "There'll be no more Picard's." According to Peter he'd call this guy a shmuk for being worried about family lines, when his closest relations have died. It's totally unnatural reaction for a man who loved his nephew - cry - all right, or, say, it's not fair. But to worry about the family tree, well I agree it's a bit cold-blooded. Still, I think Picard has a natural; reticence about showing emotion. Maybe it was the only way he could deal with it.
2) After the scene with Deanna in the ready room, the sub-plot of Picard's grief isn't really brought up again. I agree with this in part, but really, Picard's conversations with Soren contain veiled reference to the event. Soren talks of death, the predator, and time, the fire in which we burn. At the end, Picard mentions to Will, that he now sees time as a friend on life's journey, reminding us to cherish each moment. I think Picard came to terms with his loss.
3) Picard's urgency to leave the nexus with Kirk and to stop Soren destroying the star, doesn't matter. If he fails the first time, he'll just be sucked back into the nexus and can repeat the whole thing again, and again, ... It is true, and a big fault in the film. I didn't notice it, but I was to busy crying - sniff! - at Kirk's death.
That's three faults I can remember, and argue on two, but no matter how many faults you can find with `Generations', it's still a spectacular film. On video, it's easy to see it came out on a cinema screen. Many of the effects involving the nexus, are ten times better seen looming on a big screen. This aside, I'm rejoicing that it's finally available for rental. To me, it's the best Trek film, ever, although I mourn the loss of Spock, Sulu and Scotty. Really steal it on the Enterprise-B. But this is a Next Gen film.
Perhaps Kirk's death is clear for Picard and crew to Boldly go to Star Trek VIII and perhaps more. I wait in hope!
Some however think that Kirk is STILL alive in the Nexus...

okie...maybe u ppl can clear something up for me and my friend....
My friends think that Kirk is still in the Nexus the same way that part of Guinan is...I think the opposite...I see Guinan as being pulled away... which is why a part of her is still there..I see Kirk as leaving willingly...meaning that he is no longer there...maybe u ppl can help clear this up for me.....
Another thing...in the next movie...will Patrick Stewart be in it .....I have heard rumors that he didn't wanna do it anymore...and... since...the NCC-1701-D is destroyed...is it gonna be rebuilt as a Galaxy class starship...or will it be NCC-1701-E as a different class.... I have not heard any information on this and I was wondering....
Thanx
A serious Trekkie...
