Lascaris War Room
The Lascaris War Rooms formed part of the War Headquarters opened in 1940 under the Upper Barrakka Gardens, Valletta. They offered a secure place from where war operations could be conducted by all three services. The war rooms are located deep in the rock under St. Peter and St. Paul Bastion which forms part of the defences of Valletta built by the Knights of St. John in 1566. Entrance is from two points via the steps in Battery Street or the ramp at Manwel Dimech Avenue through Herbert Ganado Gardens.
